  An Adjective

 

An adjective is a word which is used to add something to the meaning of a noun or a pronoun. ये शब्द किसी संज्ञा या सर्वनाम की विशेषता बताते हैं।

Example- clever, tall, black, pretty, beautiful, ugly, intelligent etc.

Kinds of Adjectives - गुणवाचक

 1• Adjective of quality-

 जो विशेषण किसी व्यक्ति या वस्तु के गुण, अवगुण या दशा का वर्णन करते हों, Adjective of quality कहलाते हैं।

जैसे- 1. The Ganga is a holy river.

2. He is very tall.

2 Adjective of quantity- 

जो विशेषण किसी वस्तु की मात्रा का बोध कराए Adjective of quantity कहलाते हैं।

जैसे 1. He took some milk. 2. I bought a little sugar.

3 Adjective of number -

 जो विशेषण वस्तु या व्यक्तियों की संख्या प्रकट करते हों Adjective of number कहलाते हैं।

जैसे- One, First, Second, Single.  

4 DemonstrativeAdjective- 

जो विशेषण किसी व्यक्ति या वस्तु की ओर संकेत करते हों, Demonstrative Adjective कहलाते हैं।

जैसे- That boy is intelligent 

 5 Distributive Adjective

/जो विशेषण किसी संज्ञा

द्वारा व्यक्त किये गये व्यक्तियों या वस्तुओं में पृथक रूप से केवल एक ही ओर संकेत करते हैं वे Distributive Adjective कहलाते हैं।

जैसे- Every student should be punctual. • 

6 Interrogative Adjective-

 जब what, which, whose का प्रयोग किसी संज्ञा के साथ प्रश्न पूछने के लिए किया जाता है, वे Interrogative Adjective कहलाते हैं।

जैसे- Whose pen is this? What is your roll number?

7 • Possessive Adjective- 

जब My, our, your, his, her, their आदि शब्दों के तुरन्त बाद संज्ञा का - प्रयोग किया जाये तो वे Possessive Adjective

कहलाते हैं।

जैसे- I am doing my work.

She is looking after her niece.

8 • Proper Adjective- 

जो विशेषण Proper Noun से बनते हैं Proper Adjective कहलाते हैं।
